In January, 1994, two-year-old Renee Goode spent the night at her father Shane’s house. The next morning, she was dead. The initial cause of death was undetermined. Renee’s mother was devastated. Her maternal grandmother refused to accept the forensics. As time passed, both women’s suspicions of Renee’s father would not go away. So, the two women took it on themselves to find out what had happened to their precious girl.
Join us at the quiet end for A Deadly Embrace. Renee’s mother and grandmother teamed with a detective who had lost a child of her own and knew the importance of finding out what actually had happened to Renee. Once Renee’s case was reopened, her body was exhumed for a second autopsy. This case demonstrates how difficult it can be to prove the murder of a young child. Evidence is not always conclusive and determining a parent’s motives can difficult. But good science, police work, and the determination of those who loved Renee the most would come together to resolve this case.
