Jeannie and Kevin McDonough had settled in for the night on July 29, 2007 when they were awakened by the muffled sounds of their 15-year-old daughter Shea being attacked by a strange man in a nearby bedroom. Opening the bedroom door, they were confronted by a terrifying figure holding a large knife to Shea’s neck.
Join us at the quiet end for A Brush with Death. What Shea and her parents didn’t know as they fought off the intruder was that the man now in their home had killed before—more than once. Truck driver Adam Leroy Lane committed at least two murders and attempted a third while he made his way through the Northeastern United States during the summer of 2007. He was found with a DVD of the horror film Hunting Humans in his truck. He also had two large hunting knives, some choke wire, and a leather mask with the eyes and mouth cut out. The McDonough’s had fought back and been able to save their daughter’s life. This encounter led to Lane’s arrest, but it was also a trauma that the family would never forget.
