Finding Karla Brown’s Killer

Goose Island Beer Co.

Chicago, IL

American Imperial Stout 13.5% ABV

It is a very dark brown with some tinges of mahogany. There was a small tan head that left a tiny bit of lace.

Aroma was roasted malt; a little chocolate, a little coffee.

Taste a nice balance of milk chocolate and strong coffee.

This was a smooth, almost creamy beer. The alcohol was very well hidden.

About the Brewery

John Hall travelled to Europe in the 1980s and was overwhelmed by the beers he tasted. He returned to the United States and founded Goose Island in his home town of Chicago in 1988. The brewery is well known for their barrel program.
